Cities are the major circular bioeconomy hubs, where biowaste is a feedstock for safe and sustainable bio-based products.
In this project of the Horizon 2020 research program, Nafigate Corporation and 22 other participants build the technical, economic, financial and legal expertise to valorize organic municipal waste and urban wastewater sludge. Eight lighthouse cities and city clusters get detailed assistance and a defined Circular Business Model tailored to each city to implement new technologies for waste management and bio-based products from biowaste and wastewater manufacturing.
We are a partner of Bergen lighthouse city and we bring a key technology for circular waste stream utilization.
This project will help enhance the return on investments by reusing resources, creating jobs, and developing local bioeconomy capacity. HOOP will launch stakeholder engagement and citizen science initiatives promoting behavioral change and acceptability of biowaste-based products, as well as food waste prevention. HOOP continues the work of the projects VALUEWASTE, Scalibur and WaysTUP! Based on the lighthouse cities experiences, developed approaches will be implemented in follower cities.
